Another benefit is that “actual” drag does not increase measurably as a fish removes line from the taller spool. They removed as much non-essential material as possible from the bar-stock aluminum frame and spool to reduce the reel’s overall weight, while a one-way bearing ensures instant engagement of the 270′s smooth, stacked dual-bearing drag. (Prototypes easily handled 5-6 pound rainbows on 7X tippet). Now the clever part: The series is designed around two frame sizes, where each accommodates two different capacity spools, so you can now custom tailor your system easier than ever before. Hint: The “6/7″ reel does a 5 weight double taper line (90 ft.) and 100 yards of 20 lb. Dacron perfectly.
